First time poster long time reader. I absolutely love reading on here. You guys are the best. Got a chance to use my new 372xp today. Absolutely killed these logs. Couldn't be happier with my nasty saw!
My other saw is a Stihl ms250. Great saw but no match for these monsters!Oak4life, I went from a 50 to a 60cc saw and seen a mega jump in woodslaying power, can't imagine what another 10cc as your 372xp might provide. Good looking woodpile there too ^5s.
Welcome to the Forum! I know that red oak gets some negative comments on the forum due to the time it takes for it to dry but that is the majority of what is currently in my stacks. Give it a couple of years to dry and you will be very pleased in how it burns in your woodstove. Also, the 372xp is a beast! I've got the 346xp and my neighbor just purchased the 372xp and it is incredible.Red oak fellas and hard maple. Mostly red oak though.
I don't think I'll ever have to buy another saw. It just goes like crazy. No complaints what so ever.Welcome , nice score and great saw! The more I read about it the more I just gotta have one !
I know a couple years is standard for drying time for red oak but I have actually had it dry out in a year. I get lots of wind and all day sunlight. Checked it with the moisture meter and it was 20% or lower. Just have to split it smaller in my opinion.Welcome to the Forum! Good luck on that one-year drying time! There is no way that I could ever get it dry in just a single year. Do you take your moisture readings from a piece of wood that has been in your woodpile for a year and then split it to get a moisture reading from the center?I know a couple years is standard for drying time for red oak but I have actually had it dry out in a year.
