I put feelers out on a local Facebook page and a nice lady gave me access to her wood piles. Most of it is already split, which is great, and I'm going back for more tomorrow. There is some birch in there and some pine, but I could use help spotting the other sorts. Thanks.

It's hard to tell from those pictures, especially the second one which is so blurry, but in that one I think I see a round of Cherry on the left side, and the first one looks like Soft Maple, maybe some Box Elder, but it's tough to tell from those shots.

I got more today and took more, and better pics. The lady who let them go said that there was a crabapple tree in the mix.

Those are better pictures but it's still hard to tell as the bark is off a lot of it, but like Jack said there is some Black Birch in the last picture and maybe some Maple, but other than that I can't make much more out, sorry.

I love the little splits. Perfect for October and November or March and April. Plus I have kind of a smaller stove, so they fit well.

I just hate stacking them with regular length splits, but you are right about them being good for smaller fires.

Yeah they’re a bummer to stack with the longer splits. I set them aside for a bit then I put them on top of my stacks like the ones in my avatar.
