Help me pick the right stove!

Yes, and not only access. A tight alcove or fireplace install can affect the thermostat's operation because of the higher heat in the alcove.
He has the dual blower though. Maybe that will help move the heat out if the OP can handle the extra noise. I have a corner install and I agree access can be annoying.

True didn’t think of that. But I think once it’s remotely colder you need the fans on the ashford to get the heat out so I guess in theory that should draw cool air back into the alcove to get the thermostat to open

I dont know about the ashford but my sirocco has never had a issue and its in a alcove made to look like a big fireplace. Looks similar in size.
