Hello friends I would love some knowledge regarding this. I looked inside gas fireplace that is about 2 years old. I noticed the top side material that is similar to a cotton batting has fallen down inside the firebox. This is very odd for me since I am not too knowledgeable about what it is or if it is crucial to have in order for it to operate. I would think it can be removed and then I can use gas fireplace once it is. I worry it will catch on fire if I use the gas fireplace I attached some pictures to show the issue of fallen material
