Have a blue/black enamel Oslo and spilled a few drops of vegetable soup on the cook top. Well actually right in front of the cook top, anyway, what do I do?? I seems to have left a brown stain that didn't wipe off. I am shutting the stove down right now and letting it cool. What should I use to try to get the brown stains off? Any ideas??? Help... lol 8

Well, I don't know for sure what to do. I've never spilled anything on top of mine. I do however have high calcium/lime in my water here, and I get white stuff baked into the top from steam rollin' out of the iron kettle on top. I've cleaned that off pretty good with "lime away". I'd just try soap and water to start if I were you. I've come to conclude the top of my beautiful stove will likely age gracefully :grrr:

Don't panic, these things happen. It's hard not to have an occasional drip or spill when cooking. I'm guessing it will clean up fine. Try a standard cooktop cleaner first.

If you want to cook regularly, maybe put a large cookie pan, the kind with a low rim, on the stovetop to catch spills.

Thanks guys, i will try soap dish soap and water first, then onto cooktop cleaner if it still persists. Thanks, I will let you know... 8

Vinergar? Will that hurt the finish??

Vinegar didn't work, but the cerama-brite for my smooth top range did the trick. Looks as good as new, thanks for the help guys. Got it done in the nick of time...supposed to get down to -18 tonight!!

There ya go. That enamel is a lot tougher than you might think. Just don't go using sandpaper on it and it should be fine.

-18! This is one helluva brutal Arctic air mass. They are now saying we may be in it until the beginning of the year. That will be a record I'd rather not see here.
