I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what kind of Hearthstone stove this is. The seller is asking $350 or best offer. She just moved into the home and doesn't want the stove. She tells me that the folks she bought the house from told her that they maintained the stove well, cleaned it yearly etc. Looks pretty used which is ok I guess. Is it a good deal? I really want a wood stove, my house is so cold and after almost 2 years practically alone, not looking forward to a cold ass winter. Any help would be appreciated. Also, any idea what the electrical plug is for? Thanks

Looks like a Mansfield. The plug appears to be hanging off of a draft booster fan. This may have been installed in a negative pressure zone with troublesome draft.

Thanks, do you think $350 is appropriate? and do you know what the thing hanging off the pipe with the cord is? I have some homework to do re:pick up /install, Just trying to figure out if it's a good deal before I commit. Thanks for responding

If the stove is in good operating condition that is a great price. If that is a draft booster on the stovepipe then you most likely will not need it. Tell us more about your house size and where you want to install it. How large an area will the stove be heating? How open is the floorplan? How many stories?

The biggest issue at this late date will be getting truly dry, well-seasoned firewood.

I have a 3 story end of row brick and block rowhome with no insulation. I finally got around to adding insulation in the basement. I have an older boiler for heat that I've had to fix in the last 2 years, It still has that old/ huge expansion tank that gets waterlogged and needs to be drained. I am trying to hold off on buying a new one and thought I would supplement my heat with a wood stove. 1200 sq feet overall. It's a tall building but rowhome slim.

Yeah, was wondering about that. I have a client with lots of wood in their shed. I may be able to use it since she stopped using her fireplace. Meanwhile, I should start looking for wood. This just happened so I'm flying by the seat of my pants with all the other DIY projects in the works. Will be on a learning curve re: venting, etc.... so glad I found you..

What floor would the stove go on? Is there an existing chimney that this might be connected to?

I have a chimney but not sure what kind of shape it's in. My gas boiler vents through that chimney so intuitively, I thought that would be a no, no.. Forgive my ignorance, I've been forced into DIY at 64 after the loss of work yadda yadda,,, so I am a bit of a beginner but also quick to learn and willing so I love the generosity of folks like you. It is a brick chimney, I just put a cap on it after I had to rescue a bird by taking apart the pipe connected to the boiler. That was fun! No fireplace chimney. Didn't think I could tap into that with a gas boiler? Thinking about it.. is it possible? to cut in on the floor above. That would be such a good deal not to have to buy all that external pipe. Am I an idiot for thinking I could do that?

Your intuition is correct. Only one appliance per flue.
Find out what is possible.
I would be remiss to not add that if that stove is in good working condition it will sell very quickly at that price. Depending on the year it sold for $2500-$3000 new.

Wowza, We have been writing back and forth and agreed on my coming to pick up on Thursday. Fingers crossed, she seems committed to me. I asked them to snap a pic of the back label and got a reply back immediately. They are in the middle of moving and just want it gone. It doesn't feel like they need the money or want any hassle. Just hoping no one else calls and offers more. Thanks a million. This is wonderful -finding this forum and getting an immediate reply. That doesn't happen often at all. Mucho :)

Can hardly sleep trying to figure that one out. I see children with Cerebral Palsy (or used to prior to pandemic) so I do have an easy-to-carry around 2 track ramp and a dolly. The husband said he would help. Maybe a couple of Mexican men from Home Depot?

Aww, Thanks for the welcome! Some warm folks on this forum, I'll say. It was a great feeling when he flew away. that bird..Then it took me several hours to get that damn pipe back together. So good to feel less alone with great advice! Helps in more than one way... isolation has taken its toll. So my heart is warm anyway...... Have a great day friends

Looks like an older model Heritage. Looks to be in pretty decent shape, great deal for $350.

does the 1990, age of 31 years old still fall in the category of a great deal Todd?
Did you receive any pics of the firebox? I don’t know much about this stove but if the insides look ok like the outside I’d say yes it’s a good deal.

thank You, It looks like I'll need to bring my shop vac. they just moved in and want the stove out, so they are busy. Once I vacuum it out, I'll get a good look at it and can back out if I need to. I hope not, I'm moving mountains to get this sucker of air and putter outer of some warmth for Lord's sake. That's all I need. Now, I'll take a gander at what makes an intact firebox other than broken pieces. So thanks again

I am SO disappointed. This is the reply from [email protected]...

Thank you for the photos. The stove is the Harvest. It would be a catalytic stove. There are a large number of parts for the Harvest that are now no longer available, including the catalytic combustor. Unfortunately, my advice would be to pass.

Yes, it's a heavy stove. Getting a solid platform like plywood under its feet and then ratchet strapping it to a good appliance dolly will make it much easier to move. Wheels make a big difference. So do some extra strong bodies. Good luck!

Hi Begreen, I had such a BIG ingenious plan, got a loaner van with wheelchair lift, dolly's that dance upright and then do the limbo, Thick strong rope, moving blankets, duck tape, an axe.shovel. O wait, I should stop..Then.... disaster ---check out, if you would, the reply I got from hearthstone.com. I'll paste it here. See below --Any thoughts? Is this a deal breaker? Would you pass? I googled parts for it and there seems to be folks out there selling them, the parts I mean. Back in the question mark of life, on the fence, in limbo, Decisions need to be made....For Lord's sake
