HELP Whitfield Adv II

We have an older Whitfield ADV II pellet stove (circa 1999). It works fine on setting 1 or 2 BUT on setting 3, 4, 5 the auger stops.
The light comes on on the panel (just like the lower settings of 1 and 2) BUT the auger does not turn.
I checked the auger motor by adding 110 volts directly to it and it turns freely. The auger moves loose and free.
This happens with NO pellets in the stove.

I'd check the set screw on the collar where the auger shaft slides into first, if that,'s tight, the auger is bad/weak, had it happen to me not enough power under a load. Replace it!

The set screw is tight.
This happens with NO pellets in the stove (empty), I'm just starting the unit, pushing the feed button from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, etc.
The auger turns fine on 1 and 2, but just stops on 3 or higher. I've connected 110volts directly to the auger motor and it turns fine (continuously until I remove the power).
The fans are all working as they should, the higher I put the pellet feed control the faster the fans turn, just no auger at 3, 4, or 5.

If you have a volt meeter, check to see if you are getting power at the motor (with the motor connected) on those settings...

Also, check the voltage on BOTH sides of the exhaust pressure switch.
If on higher speeds, the switch is opening, then you could have an exhaust restriction.
If you are not getting voltage at either side of the pressure switch, check the high limits (unless this is a cold stove).

Your manual has a block wiring diagram you can refer to..

If you can, also get as close to the controller as possible to check the voltages there..
My stove did weird things for a bit before being unable to even start. had to replace the controller after 16 years..

Sounds like a controller issue, mines the same year, still have original board, I rarely ever go to a 3 as it get's too hot, too bad it wasn't 4 cause who cares at that heat level, there's info on the 'net somewere about soldering boards and issue's

There is a repair service for your board, check on this site. If you go to ebay and put in Whitfield advantage pellet stove there is a couple new one's there and a repair service.
