Help with 1988 Blaze King KT-304 Thermostat / setup procedure

Hi,
Brand new to this forum with a question.
A friend of mine has a 1988 Blaze King KT-304 wood stove. The spring in the thermostat housing is intact but the butterfly air inlet is very sloppy and not really working correctly with the temperature adjustment knob.
I need a set up procedure for the thermostat assembly. Any pictures with a setup procedure for the thermostat would be appreciated.
