I am in the process of converting my Heatilator 34A built in 1994 and used maybe once a year- skipping some years! Wife wants a gas insert.
My main questions are suggested brands- preferably made in USA--if that is a thing.

Secondly, pricing- is there negotiating room for discounts in the off season and if so how much is reasonable?

Local fireplace shop recommends , Fireplace Xtrordinair (Travis Industries) , Heat and GLO and Kozy heat

Prices listed in show room range from $5700 to a low of $4500 plus tax and installation ( Install was quoted at $1750) with gas stub in the fireplace already - more if Propane gas line has to be run ) which it does.

Tax is going to be about 7%

Any help would be appreciated
