Helping my neighbor

Some Red Maples fell over in my neighbor's swamp. He has some back problems and his wife has him on a strict limit of one tank of fuel a day for the chainsaw. His son-in-law and I pulled these trees out of the swamp with my tractor and it was a chance for me to try my new Christmas present from my wife which was the grapple. We loaded them up and took the logs up to the house for him to process them as he gets time. The grapple was amazing. I am impressed every time I use it.

A grapple for christmas, WOW now thats true love. You are lifting some heavy looking logs , did hang some ballast off the three point? Did you put in a separate valve or connect the grapple to your remotes?I drool over the grapple every time I go the JD dealer.

Yes what size and horsepower is your JD? My kubota is 45hp but if its anywhere near yours, than my hydraulics are set to low because it wouldn't lift that log.

Those glasses work better on the face, rather than dangling there.
I am amazed at the amount of people that run a chainsaw with no glasses on.

Mine is a 3032 or 32 hp with ag tires filled with calcium.

And I thought the pallet forks I borrow from my buddy on occasion were awesome for moving wood... Nice equipment. Looks like a blast.

For some odd reason that whole thing looks overtaxing. Or I'm just a p****y. It doesn't seem like grapples are made for that exercise...but then what would they be made for?
Digging roots?
Root rakes....now that is an invention!

The tractor is a JD 3320 (33HP) I have several logs on the top of the box blade. There was still some snow on the ground then and it was all white again this morning. I know I need to have a talk with him on safety. The brake is broken in his saw and he will just plunge the bar into the dirt when cutting a log on the ground. I cringe every time he does that but we all had to learn at some point. He is actually the son-in-law of my neighbor and plans to build a house on the land so I will be seeing more of him.
