Here we go again!

Just like last year once again our TSC, Walmart, HD and Lowes run out of wood pellets and can never tell you when more are coming. Our local mom and pops and ACE stores cant even get them this year at all. Same story last year but at least we made to late February before there was issues.

Lowes in Cicero has pellets.
Lowes in Oswego has pellets.
Lowes in Webster has pellets.
HD in Macedon has pellets.

Country Max in Ontario has pellets.

HD in Clay has pellets.
New Haven Building Supply has pellets.

Those are all the places I checked with yesterday and today.

I got 3/4 ton of Green Supremes from Lowes in Oswego and 1/2 ton of 100% pine horse bedding pellets from TSC in Ontario. I work in Ontario and drive through Oswego on my way home. While the drive is long at times, I have LOTS of options for pellets.

They are. I'm not having the issues others are. Not sure if batch differences or just because my stove likes to burn stuff. No plastic or water in mine like others have seen in other areas.

Pellet snobs (not a bad thing) are definitely having problems but those of us that don't mind having to clean up an extra cupful of ash every cleaning are not. There were folks bemoaning no pellets in southern NH to the point I took a joy ride and visited an Agway, two HD's, a Lowe's and a TSC, all within 20 miles of each other, and there were 600 tons available for sale between them all. Yes, some were better than others but all the pellets I tried produced heat and they all produced ash.

I just like to burn stuff.

As long as the pellets aren't terrible (like NAWP, yes with an A) and don't put out heat, I just burn em. My stove holds a ton of ash anyways so that may be why I don't care as much.

Hell, if I had know this stove can take a 50/50 pellet corn mix from the get go, I would have gotten the proper venting kit for that.

Run em and clean em. The pellet stove owners mantra.

Not sure of the relationship between my post and your question. There are many, many, many pellet seekers that have to have their Set's, Turman's, Okies, Barefoot's, etc., and nothing else will do in their quest for the "best" pellet. As a result, they have expressed difficulty that they can't find pellets. Those less choosy are have little problem finding pellets to burn and that was the point of my post. This consumer trait is found with all sorts of commodities and I am certainly one who does this as well, just not with pellets. It's a statement of fact and has nothing whatsoever to do with the one post in the thousands I have read here that spoke of finding plastic in a bag of pellets. Specifically with Green Supreme's, the majority of posters here don't like them, but it is also a fact that in other pellet review venues, there are pellet stove owners that will use nothing else other than GS.

Everyone around here that usually carries pellets currently has them as well or at least as of last Friday. Perhaps a combination of a milder winter thus far, cheaper oil and NG, more folks prebuying and better overall supply. I don't have data to back up the last two assertions but it does seem so.

Trae-Burn - 500 bags - $385/ton or $7.75/bag
Maine Woods Pellets - $299.00/ton or $7.75/bag

Okanagan Platinum - $299.00/ton and will sell by the bag
Inferno Gold by the bag only and limit of 10 bags - $6.50ish a bag

Manager said the Peterborough, NH Agway store has more in stock then Keene does. Also said to call him if you went there and he'd hold your order to make sure it is there when you arrive.

20 tons of North American Pellets
5 tons of Green Supreme but they have a standing order for mid-week delivery of 44 tons (2 trucks) and no interruptions of shipments so far.

I just scored a half-ton at our local ace last week - Hamer's Hot Ones, here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. But they were waiting two weeks for a shipment. I got the last partial ton at the ton rate. Hopefuly will score. Lowes and HD carry the crappy Presto-Logs here, also dodgy supply. Next year 3 tons at the start of the season!

What I think is happening, is that the manufacturers are selling stoves faster than supply infrastructure can put pellets in the stream.

Thanks so much! This is really helpful. I keep meaning to stop at Perkins to check pellet prices; we cross that bridge every few weeks when running errands. Wow...pretty pricey there.

It sounds like many of the stores in the area are well stocked. That's really good to know.

I should check the Agway in Brattleboro...same owners as the Keene Agway.

That is chump change to the increase in overseas exports...

We have more than DOUBLED our exporting of pellets in one year.
Talking millions of tons, that could be here, are now gone...
England alone, 5 years ago, imported nearly zero.
Now, they are pushing 4,000,000 tons.
