All you heritage people, 1. How big is your house (how many stories?) 2. How big is your stove room? 3. Do you like the way your stove heats the house and room?

I'm between a Heritage and a Woodstock Prospect (although the salesman really wants me to get a Mansfield. I can't get the WS Fireview becasue it sticks out too far in the room). I have an 1,800 sqft 2.5 story house (1,200 without the finished attic) the stove room is only 160 sq ft. 8ft ceilings, small rooms. I was assured that the soap stone will allow mellow heat in the stove room and I hope that when needed the stove could heat the house with adequate air circulation. Thughts?

I have a Heritage, though it is an older model ( non-cat). 1500 sq. ft. single floor home.
I'm satisfied with the stove but I only burn when it's to cold for the heat pump to keep up.

The stove is primarily an area heater. How large a space it will heat will depend on the size of the space, heat loss of that area, and outside temp. A 160 sq ft room can heat up very quickly, even with a small stove. How is it proposed to move the heat?

If possible, post a sketch of the floorplan indicating the proposed stove room, stairwell, doors and windows.

It's not a good plan, but maybe there is another location that would work better? If not, then I wouldn't do this. The stove and hearth will take up over a tenth of the floor space too.
