Is it worth installing a fresh air kit for my Hearthstone Heritage stove? My house is fairly tight, but we have used this stove for going on five years now with no problem. Will it make that big of a a difference or improve my burn?

Thanks.

Even a "tight" house will have drafts. Replacement air for that used in the combustion has to come from somewhere. You will eliminate those drafts, anyway...

I would do some research on outside air for wood stoves woodheat.org has some really good articles on it. My suggestion is if it's not broke dont fix it

Do you have an outside air kit for your clothes dryer? Range hood?Bathroom fans? My point is, these appliances suck way more air out than a stove ever will over a 24hr period and no one thinks too much about it. I agree, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I'm a proponent of OAK generally, but really, if you've gone 5 years without problems of that nature, I wouldn't change it now either.

If you do notice a change in draft or burn quality when running fans or the dryer, etc, then you could look into doing it.
