Hello all. We have a wood stove and I have a bizarre question about the door gasket, it is perfectly square about 1/2". Local stove stores are baffled by it, I have taken the actual gasket to a couple of places and I get raised eyebrows. The stove, as far as I can tell, is a "Millscraft" made in Canada according to the stampings inside of the doors. It is plate construction with cast doors that have large knobs to open for air. The thing is a beefy 30" wide, 20" deep and 24" tall and it sits on top of 6" legs. It is lined on the sides, back and bottom with firebrick. It was in our home when we purchased it about 10 years ago. We have used it well in those years but I could never find any info about the stove on the net. It used to heat the room (15x30) to the point where you would have to open the windows because it got too warm. That is not the case anymore. I have always kept up on the chimney being cleaned annually but never paid much attention to the door gaskets. I assume that would be a contributing factor to the apparent loss of heat production. I have been burning seasoned hardwoods from a local sawmill- mostly red oak and hardwood pallet scraps. Any ideas on the door gasket? Thanks in advance for your help.
