Welcome to the Forum;
Those 5 fin draft caps didn't exist in '75, more like a '77 or '78 with the newer spring handle as well.
That is the original color of door.
Do you have 12 inches clearance from the rear corners to wall? (excluding shield)

Hello new to this forum. I have a 77 or 78 Mama Bear stove and was wondering what kind of white paint are you using to paint the trees and Fisher script on the door?

To answer your original question Stove Bright is the paint recommended to use on your stove. Although the trees and lettering were not originally painted a different color many people do this to dress up the doors a little. Buy a can of spray in your choice of color, spray some out into a container and use a small brush.

I do have 12" clearance on each corner yes excluding the fireboard. When did they quit putting Pat Pending on the door?
Some foundries never did. It wasn't for the stove patent, it was due to other patents pending. (such as door latch, air controls, and other changes for new models) Here's a later model with both patent number and other patents pending;

How often,which models, and in what year range were these misspelled doors cast? Do you see them often?[/QUOTE]

Welcome to the forum! The misspelled "D" doors are rare. Coaly probably knows more about those doors than anyone, and might be one of a few forum members that actually have one. I've only seen them in pictures.

Hi, you'll gets lots of good Fisher info here.
For what it's entry-level I got some hi temp paint (VHT is the brand) in silver, to highlight some Papa Bear doors. Never did it, but that's what I -woulda- used. Small can of liquid. Keep a qtip and thinner handy. Good luck.
