Working on finishing the install of my new Hearthstone Homestead.
I attached my DVL pipe to the supplied oval adapter, and its fit appears
"loose" and not so airtight prior to securing w/ screws - normal for Homestead?
I'm wondering ifI should take a mallot to it ("gently") for force it in more snug prior
to scewing into place, or perhaps just secure & furnace cement the seam
& leave it??

I remember my old Homestead was the same, I just used furnace cement.

Why not try to push some small, round stove gasket material into the gaps It'll come apart much easier & there is virtually no mess.

I wish I had thought of that before I made a mess with stove cement. Doh!
