Hooking up appliance adapter

So I mocked the vent pipe all up. The adapter I got to go to 6" stovepipe does work, but doesnt look like its made to do what I'm doing. Think that will work fine though. But the appliance adapter is kind of frustrating... I know I'll need to attach with 3 screws but unlike the stove this is replacing I cant slip the stovepipe inside it and just run the drill through the holes since the appliance adapter goes outside of it and is also double wall. Is there some trick to marking the holes accurately? Its loose enough that it was wiggling around as I was trying to mark the second one to where I don't think the first one was lined up anymore. Just getting frustrated. I thought hooking up a pellet stove would be easier than a woodstove but its been much more fiddly and expensive than I thought lol. Hopefully I'll have her ready to go this weekend. Still got the OAK to hook up too, but going to have to piecemeal parts there too

It's not clear what you are trying to do....

why do you have 6" pipe at all?

Sorry, I am often confusing I know, especially when its a partial rant I guess! The 6" pipe is part of the pre-existing chimney (this is temporarily replacing my Hearthstone Shelburne) but thats not part of my question really Was just another weird aspect of the instal, and how I thought the pellet install was going to be simpler/cheaper than stove install from everything I read but it hasn't been. Also, not sure if its 'legal' to do. My main question was how to hook up the 3" 'appliance adapter' to the vent outlet on the stove. Such a simple task of drilling 3 screw holes through it is turning out to be an awkward task, as opposed to say a normal stove like the one its replacing where you can simply insert the vent pipe and drill through the holes that are exposed which goes then through the pipe. The holes that are on the vent port on this stove will be on the inside of the double walled collar so its hard to use those as a guide if you know what I mean. I might just drill one hole (since you can rotate the adapter it doesn't really matter where it is) and then just silicone the joint and call it good.

With a pellet stove you have to silicone the joints or tape them anyway or you will get the smell of smoke in your house. Pellet stoves have positive pressure exhaust systems. I think most people just drill where ever and put in self tapping screws.
