Hotblast 1557m

I am in the process of building an outdoor furnace using a hot blast 1557. I am wondering for anyone that uses these, how hot the bottom of these units get. I want toKeep the unit on a hardwood pallet with a thermal barrier on the top so I can easily move it around my property.

I'd put it on a metal pallet just to be safe. May not get that hot normally but what happens when a spark or hot coal comes out of the firebox when you are loading?

Yeah that's why I was going to wrap the pallet in sheet metal for that reason.

MFG requirement - non combustible mounting surface- you would need a 2" air gap between the sheet steel and the wood pallet to satisfy that requirement.

Didn't have time this morning to ask, but why do you want to move the thing around the property?

Only reason is because it will only be in its current spot for a year and due to the weight I want to be able to move it with the tractor forks. I might just end up building a steel frame for it to sit on
