So I have had a hotblast wood furnace for years, it was older, and it didn't have the smoke curtain. I just got a new/used one. it has the smoke curtain and it gets in the way of loading wood. has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do to prop it up? Thanks!!

Didn't prop it up, just peppered my wrists with scars lol. No, ours would stick open if I jammed it up, but occasionally would come down and ding ding ding through the ducts. A wood poker would hold it open to load.

Prior to renovations, this woodfurnace would use 12-14 cord a year. Insulation, airsealing, renovation and newer models reduced it to 4-6 cord a year with minimal chimney sweeping.
