I'm hand-stacking on pallets in my cellar and trying to fit every bag possible on a given footprint. What's the highest you stack? If one 40x48" pallet has five bags on each layer, should I stop at 10 layers/1 ton, 15 layers/1.5 ton, or can I get away with 20 layers/2 ton before compromising the bottom of the stack? This site estimates a standard pallet can hold 4600 lbs, so the foundation isn't an issue.

I stack mine 15 layers high with no issue.

I will be getting 3 tons in a couple weeks. I will try and stack 1 1/2 ton on 2 total pallets to try and save space

1 1/2 tons per pallet in the basement.

I am going to stack 1 1/2 tons on a pallet on the concrete floor of my garage and another 1/2 tons on a pallet in my 3rd garage with a wood floor. Should I be worried about the weight on the wood floor if its meant to hold a car?

No because it's concrete under the floor and your car weighs more than 1000lbs.

maybe i said this wrong. I have a raised ranch and two car built in with a concrete floor where 1/2 will be stored. The other 1/2 which is 1.5/2 tons will be stored in a detached 3rd Klotter Farm garage. It houses a car now and some other stuff currently

Here's my stack.

Some pellets come on 1-1/2 Ton pallets, so I wouldn't worry too much...

I go 17 layers high, wood pallet, dirt floor basement(gravel).Would go higher but ceiling is close.Pallet will not break as it is not moving.Tall stacks, when shipping, tend to put many small holes in the bags, but they will not be moving in your place.1/2 on floor of garage is nothing, unless it is open under the boards, like some old NE house garages.

I don't do more than 13 rows or so mostly because I don't want to have to reach that high.

Usually go 15 bags high, 6 bags/layer all in the same direction, except for the one on the end away from the wall, that's 5 bags/ layer, like the pallets come, need the alternating layers for stability , the wall supports the other end...................

Have gone 18 high had to stop for the ceiling! LOL had over 7 tons in the house stacked all the way up.

Mine are stacked in the same fashion as they came off the pallet.

I stack floor to 6" clearance on the ceiling on my concrete basement floor.

bottom bags are fine... maybe a little more fines than others, but they've also been sitting there ALL year by the time i get to them

I generally avoid storing explosives and flammable liquids over my pellets ...... But, that's just me, I guess ...............................
All empty, they are there in case i need fuel for generator, in which case they would be filled and stored elsewhere
box was used to store other "non lethal" items afer emptied

My pellet bags are stacked almost to the basement ceiling. I stack them the same way they
come from the mill so they don't fall over.

:)
You have gas cans like I have ties, are they gifts?:)
bought a generac gp17500 genny wired to the house with manual transfer switch, 15 gallon tank burns about a gallon an hour, shoulda went with propane , fuel can be hard to come by when power is out areawide!!!
