I just installed a Lennox Monte with the gravity heat kit installed to the upstairs living room from the basement where the fireplace sits. When the fireplace is up to a decent temp the register frame upstairs is about 200 deg F. That same register is attached to two studs on each side. My question is, is this to hot? I know that dry pine will automatically ignite at around 700 deg. F. Everything that I have read has said that this temperature is not to hot but I thought that I would ask. If it is I am going to have to add a baffle on the gravity hot air outputs. Any help would be appreciated.

UL tests to see that adjacent combustibles don't get hotter than 90 degrees over ambient air temperature. If those studs are getting hotter than 90 degrees more than the room temp then they are too hot.
Edit: Also the more the studs are exposed to heat over time the lower the combustion temp becomes. Something called pyrolysis.

Thanks for the info. The best that I can tell is they are about 130 deg F when running. The heat run has 2" of clearance between everything except for the frame work to hold the register, hope this is good enough, it is what the manual suggests so I guess we will see.
