How many times a within a 24 hour period do you load your stoves up?
trying to get an idea how much wood i should be using.

My living room is holding around 88 at the moment. Pretty mild night. Load the stove full 2 a day. Partial load 2 a day.I'd say every 7-10 hours right now. Wood isn't my primary heat source.
And according to my wife, I'd "better not put anymore wood in that stove tonight" because she'll "sleep on the deck in the snow" as it is getting a wee bit toasty inside. lol. So no reload tonight before bed.

Lol why not?I can't comment.
Lol. Heating the outdoors Eh?I was a mistake on my part. I have a window open at the moment. If it's 68 I'm happy. Sweating at the moment.
This has been the mildest winter here in South Carolina that I can remember.
X2 for me in upper 20s weather with some solar gain. Right now with the cold snap we are having 3 times with a small load from just before dinner till the night load. (Helps burn down the excessive coal/ash pile as well!)Ideally, my goal is 2. If it is dipping colder, say <20, then I may do a 1/2 load to bridge the end of my day load and my re-load for overnight.
Who are you asking?Sounds overheated. Those temps are not healthy in the winter. In the summer at what temp do you turn on the AC, 78F? Feed the stove less wood and let it go out if necessary.
Lol, I agree. I couldn't imagine.The 88F hothouse.
We've just gone through a few weeks of that stuff. If it's over 45F outside I let the heat pump handle it. Dropping below 40F now and with a stiff north wind. We have been burning steady, but the living room is only 74F and the rest of the house around 70-72F. Perfect. I might switch to hardwood for the next couple days, love the way it burns.Lol, I agree. I couldn't imagine.
Actually a little ironic that this conversation is taking place.... Just last night I woke up around 2am and was way too hot so I got up and closed our bedroom door. Well, my wife got up later to go out to the kitchen.....and, WHAM!! I felt terrible.
I have gotten into some really good seasoned locust and with the temps not terribly cold currently in CT, it doesn't take much to get the house too warm.
