Please excuse this rookie question.

This is the first time I've had a woodstove with the chimney vented out the back of the stove, instead of through the top of the stove.

I want to get up on the roof and sweep my chimney, but as of right now I haven't figured a way to access the chimney through the back inside of the stove so I can shop vac the material.

I've looked through this forum, didn't readily see if it's been discussed.

If it has, please forgive the new guy and point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

I have the Heritage vented out the back into a stainless steel liner. I disconnect chimney and slide stove out. The dealer that sold me the stove said I would be able to access chimney from inside stove but I don't see how. I asked another dealer and he was going to contact Hearthstone and let me know. I never heard back. I also called and emailed Hearthstone. Got no response. I kind of think the top of the stove would have to be removed. I saw a video for the 8023 where it could be done and I tried but the 8024 is a little different. Maybe someone else knows?

Do you have a chimney liner? I also have a Heritage 4. It is vented out of the back into a 6" stainless steel "T", connected to a liner that is sealed to the masonry at the top of the chimney. The "T" allows access for cleaning the liner from inside (I had someone clean it last year, and they preferred this method over getting up on the roof). My fireplace is fairly large, however, so access to the back of the stove is not a problem.
