Just wondering if there are some cleaners for the outer surface of steel wood stoves. I have found some pastes and polishes but they say to use only on cast iron. Any brand recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is this just to shine it up and get the dusty look off or are there bad / dull / rust spots?

I just want to shine the stove up. I was wondering if I can use paste or polish on the stove. Warning labels on certain products say not to apply paste or polish to a painted stove. Obviously a steel stove is painted so I guess you cannot use paste and must start over by painting the stove? I just want something simple to get that ashy look off of the stove.

Rutland says this stuff can be used on steel stoves. I would test it on the back of the heat shield first.
