This is for sale near me. Anybody know how old it is? I realize it will not be nearly as efficient as a gasifier but I have a lot of wood available to me. Will it smoke a lot? With the price at $1200 it may be worth a look.

That is a great boiler - it is pretty big, though...so you better have some heating load.
If in decent condition, I would grab it and spend the difference on mixing valves, perhaps storage and chimney improvements, etc.
Age? It might have a label on it if you remove the front top panel - my guess is 1984-88
