I just got off the phone with Daryl and bought myself a new Kuuma Vapor Fire 100.

I added on the water coil so I can heat my water with it down the road if I choose to. They say I should have it sometime in May. The waiting begins.

Not an issue.....we have 20+ cords of mostly seasoned (2-3 years) oak waiting. Thanks to goosegunner we also have another 2-3 (?) cords waiting to get processed. My plan is to try to cut what we burn every year in order to keep the stock nice and seasoned.

yeah, I was hoping to get out there after work one day but I still haven't got around to it. I have my nephew and his friend staying the weekend, so we'll probably put them to work hauling wood as I buck those trees up BTW, my GF did mention to me out of the blue yesterday, "you know, I did see you cut down a couple other trees"....lol I explained why and that's all that was said.

Glad to see someone is ahead of the curve here. I have a really bad feeling that a heap of folks are thinking, "I'm going to buy a wood burning______ this fall before the next heating season.
Based on the amount of calls we are getting, I'll wager a guess that the unit they plan on buying in August or September may not be available when they want it.
There is huge interest in wood and pellet burning equipment and I just hope most of those thinking about it don't wait til the last minute to buy one.

More likely in my mind is they get their new unit in place and all ready to go - then wonder why they aren't getting any heat, and are getting all that mess, out of their just-as-new wood.

First step done. Chimney installed....now need to box it in and do the finish work. It's all Excel chimney. TGI joists are 12" O.C., so luckily Excel uses a 10"x10" support box.

Just a thought: watch your clearances on the stove pipe to support box connection. definitely need double wall pipe in there.

also, that's the nicest roof flashing for the pole barn steel roof I've seen. did you buy that somewhere or have someone fab it up for you? super slick.

yep, we are right at 6" clearance....which is required even for double wall pipe. The poured concrete walls have Styrofoam insulation on both sides which doubled as the form when the walls were poured. I put up some cement board as a precaution, so what you are seeing in the pics is the cement board.

The flashing is Excel's flashing made specifically for metal roofs. It was another selling point on why I chose the contractor I did, as they only install Excel chimney's and they told me they have contractors buying this flashing from them for their install's on metal roofs. They told me it's pretty much the best metal roof flashing you can currently get...or at least that they've seen.
