I just shut down my stove for the year

I recently started smelling smoke from the pellet stove even though I keep it nice and clean. The wife tries to help by adding pellets which is nice. I come home from work one day and the stove is tweaked. I am kind of anal so when I installed the stove I lined everything up perfectly. My problem is that the stove is sitting on marble and the marble allows the stove to move if you push on the side. So I am guessing that the wife moved the stove while adding the pellets breaking the seal in the pipe somewhere. I am cranky and don't feel like screwing with it anymore this year so it is shut down. When I am in a better mood I will completely disassemble and do a thorough cleaning. Oil is only $1.56 per gallon, that is pretty cheap so that is what I will be heating with for the rest of the year even though I have enough pellets for the next heating season.

I too am close to finishing my season up, just need to burn the bag I have open... I need to pull my stove out this summer to work on a few things...

Here in Mass I'll be heating steadily thru April, and into some of May.... I think they heat year round up in Maine... LOL

It's not that bad living in Maine if you like 6 months of Winter! We can get snow until late April in Central Maine.
The snow comes in handy to help keep us cool for the short 3 months of Summer we get. Chortle.....

Yes we have winter here in Maine forever. I am moving the stove into the basement anyway so I guess now is as good a time as any. My wife and the two kids do not like the heat so it is always a battle, I leave the room and they turn down the stove. When I come back into the room I turn the stove back up. So I will be spending most of my time in the full daylight basement after the stove gets moved. I actually spend most of my time down there anyway since my office is down there.

I have always anchored my stoves down. We live in a high seismic zone and I have to do it with my mechanical installs at work, so I figurred my home is worth it also.

Enough over exagerating.. lol It varies on the actual end of the season. Also.....southern maine is much diff by way of insects. You have never seen a nuisance until you have seen a yard full of blackflies until you have been in the Bangor area.... I was raised in Lincoln....they actually helped move me to So. Maine years ago...lol. So. Maine dont really get black flies as much.....more mosquitos.

The basement is where I spend my time too and is where I burn my pellet stove.

We do construction year round here. At a great $ mind you. It should be able to be done pretty much any where else then.
