Holy chit. I just ran your monthly usage through my bill calculator and here it would have been $189.79. Taxes and other included.

No kidding. I love the charge for green energy >:-(

Sooo, back to that wood stove that Dix & the Dixette are willing to feed.....

And I apologize, that was for May.

Long Island is rough. Everything costs an arm and a leg. Dixie, don't ever tell them what you're paying in taxes. They'll all vomit on their keyboards.

It's brutal out here. Eileen, good luck finding the right heater for that room.

Here you have to "opt in" to get ripped for the green energy charge. At least so far. As a co-op they just invested fifty million of our money in a slash burn plant without asking and when it loses our butt we will get the privilege of picking up the tab.

You need to file a small claims court suit over that green energy charge. Costs ya less than a hundred and a day off work. They can't justify it. You tell the judge, which it won't make it to, that you just want to buy electricity. You don't care where it comes from. And if they are mixing green with it, it should be in the base rate.

Is this a bi-monthly bill? It says for 59 days of service. It looks more like the charge is about $.17/KWh + a $0.27 per day charge. Or am I reading this all wrong?

Given your high energy costs, I was serious about installing solar if you have some decent sun exposure on your property. With an adequate system you should be able to generate most of your current power needs. I would at least get a site analysis and few quotes from some reputable installers in the area. It's a shame you didn't catch the first program that ended last year. It paid a rocking $4/watt rebate. Still there is now a $1.75/watt rebate incentive and there is still the 30% tax credit + net metering. If interested, post questions in the green room. For more details go to:

Sorry, BG, I glanced at it quick before typing :)

No decent sun exposure until atleast 10 of my gigundo oaks come down, and even then all of the neighbors have the same size trees. Neighbor next door had an estimate done, and was told the same thing..too many trees. We can't even get satellite TV, because of the trees.

Pardon our appearance, we're replacing windows, and trying to figure out siding.

Got it. That is a bit of a forest hotel. I would be stashing firewood from the southern side in rapid order.

The 2 behind both sides of the center chimney (where the PE resides) are the first to go. Then 4 oaks to the right side are on the list (carpenter ants). Plus pines coming down.
