Hello

Would anyone please be able to help identify what type of stone my hearth is? In the market for a wood insert and I may need to extend the hearth. I like my current stone as it matches the fireplace well but do not know what type it is.

Thanks in advance!

From the photo, it looks more like a manufactured stone veneer than natural stone, something along these lines.

If you're trying to extend the hearth, I'd take some close-up photos and a few measurements to a local stone supplier. They'll have a much better chance of finding a close match than trying to identify it by name from a photo alone.

Is that a pre-fab fireplace or a full masonry firebox and chimney? It does look like stone veneer.

The hearth looks pretty smooth grained, limestone? One option for extending it could be to use a contrasting stone as a definitive border.

The folks at Connecticut Stone may be able to help. https://www.connecticutstone.com

Yes, I like the suggestion above: if it's hard to find the exact match, something similar to a bread board ending or picture framing of a two-toned deck might work very well with other interior design/colors you have.
