My guess is hickory but I am not a hickory expert.
 
Bark looks like locust but not the inside.
 
I'm wondering if that's honey locust.
 
My guess is Pignut Hickory. The bark has the thin lines, but is not flaking off like Shagbark Hickory, and it has the dark heartwood color.

Not locust. Could be hickory.
 
The distinct pith inside suggests a maple species. Would need some leaves or branches to confirm.

Whatever it is it's free wood. #win
