I have a Vermont Castings gas log (Natural Gas) fireplace that uses a Honeywell RV8310 gas valve. I need a new piezo ignitor and the only identifying writing on it is probably the manufacturer - 'NTK'. I know that the valve is obsolete and it works well once it is alight.

Are these ignitors available anywhere and what is the part number?

Sorry Bob, I don't have the model# handy. I have the manual but it's at a cabin I own. I believe it was put in when the house was built in 1982 and works well but take ~10 pushes of the ignitor to light it.

Does it take that many clicks on the Piezo EVERY time you try to light the unit, or just the first time after a long period of non-usage?

You may have a compromise in the sheathing on the igniter wire. That will allow the spark to go to ground before it reaches the pilot hood.
