One of the guys were I bought my insert came over this evening and helped me to get going again. Nice fire going now .... up to 1500 degrees (stove temp).

Just in time. Bet the extra heat is really appreciated. I hope that the extra thousand degrees is a typo there. What method did he use to start the stove?

What happened, B?

Glad you're up & running again, though.

No typo. My Buck 91 goes from 0 to 1700.
He used wadded up newspaper in the very BACK of the firebox ..... that's where the flue is. After he got the draft going he started adding kindling and a firestarter (one his store sells), moving up to a small split, etc.

I was afraid I would do it wrong and get another smoke dragon. There was nothing wrong with the stove ..... just me. :-/

Got it, that's the cat temperature. I should have picked up the subtle hint with the cat as an avatar. :-)

Great to hear that your have some real heat going now. How's the house warming up?

Yep, Girlfriend, the glass is telling a story.

I had a hard time with the NC 13 this week :red:

I think the dirty glass must be Cat stove thing. My glass is dirty on the sides and the glass on my Jotul was never black. Must be something in the way they burn.

My glass is dirty. Hopefully, that big fire will help burn it off.

Sorry to hear you've had problems. Sounds like it's been a hard week for stoves. It's been so very cold everywhere. Are you up and running now also?

Weather she is or isn't a musician in real life, she definitely plays one on TV.

Rock Band is a video game...even a responsible, mild-mannered wood stove operator can indulge their fantasies of reckless rock-star abandon.

Not so! We have a cat stove but no black glass.
