What are your thoughts on this scenario from a risk perspective.. Homeowner contracted to have addition built on one end of their single storey home. Contractor incorporated a pre-existing 650c Selkirk chimney into a bonus room addition. The stove pipe vents to chimney T connector through concrete basement wall. T connector is bracketed to exterior concrete basement wall from which chimney runs vertically to a height of about 5ft above 4/12 pitched roof. The bonus room addition resulted in the T connector being located just beneath the floor in the newly constructed crawl space beneath the addition. Contractor used 2" spacing, but did not use firestop joist shield where chimney passes through floor. Chase was constructed around chimney using 2" spacing. Essentially, the contractor just built around the pre-existing Selkirk chimney. Thanks!
