Question:
I am looking for care and maintenance on Chimnea stoves. I recently purchased one and would like to know what to put inside the stove to prepare it for the fire. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer:
You should have a layer of sand or ash 2 to 3 inches deep on the bottom. In addition, it's not a bad idea to seal the outside of the unit with water repellent....I've heard that Thompsons water seal does a nice job.
Make the first few fires small to season the unit.
