I am shopping for an insert. Looking at some literature from models I am considering and the clearances listed. Strongly leaning toward a Century ( 4 kids, super tight budget and it gets good reviews) and the diagram shows ten inches to the top surround (combustible). Now I think I am reading it correctly , this is measured from the stove portion of the insert not the faceplate correct?

Yes the clearance should mean from the top of the stove. By faceplate do you mean the surround?
