Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here that helped me out with my first install. I bought this stove used and was learning on the fly, so everyones help here was outstanding. Just a couple of questions... 1) where does everyone put there magnetic thermometer? on the door or the stove pipe? I have tried both and was just wondering what everyone else does. My stove pipe coming out of the stove is a type of double wall as it has a chunk of insullation half way wrapped around it with the black covering. So I had it placed above the manual damper in the single wall elbows,which I installed, so I was thinking that would not be the actual temp of the fire?? And #2 does anyone know what those things in my second picture are used for? they look like legs but the stove does not have legs. I was leaning toward somethiung to maybe hold up the grates on the inside of the stove?? They do not look like they have been used so they are maybe on option? and there are only 2 of them and three grates... thanks again

Those look like lifters for a cooktop. I can't think what its called, but the cooktop circle thing. See pic.

If you're looking to get rid of em, I'm using angled needlenose pliers right now. :D

I am confused. I see a pipe running up, and also what looks like a connection to the wall?
What the clearances of the stove & the piping to that back wall?

The thing you see that looks like its connected to the wall is actually one of those barometric damper controls... it came with it so I installed it. I also put a manual in-line damper as well. The clearances to the back at its closest is about 10" and its a double wall.

Hi:

I can't tell from the photo, but how close are the single-wall elbows to the wall? Single-wall pipe requires 18" clearance to combustibles, and I really don't know what clearance the damper should have, but it sure is a lot closer than the elbows. Were you talking about the damper here?

The clearances to the back at its closest is about 10” and its a double wall.

Please check these things so you can be sure everything is safe.

Oh, and usually the thermometer is placed on the top center of the stove.
