Installation help

I am in the process of installing a Hearthmate pellet stove for a friend into an existing 8" metalbestos chimney system ( used to be a VC Vigilant there ). It sits up on a hearth and no matter what elbows or 45s I use for this short distance it will not work because the 3" simpson will not adjust. Was thinking of using some sort of flex connector off the stove into a 3"-8" chimney adapter. Can anyone come up with a better idea?

I know nothing about other venting systems, but I do know that Simpson does sell adjustable lengths of pipe.

Ive got a length of 4" simpson adjustable at the back of the stove. WHen I had the chimney done I didnt have the hearth ready, so I knew Id need to lose aorund 2" of chimney. Works very slick.

Jes can you cut the flex (double wall) adjustable lengths are no problem, unique angles is where the help is needed. If I purchase the flex and can cut it problem solved.

Did you actually cut the pipe or does it work some other way? May sound like a dumb question.................

I replaced the Elmira Stoveworks wood stove (8" double insulted pipe inside and out) that was in my home, with an Avalon Astoria (4"outlet).

Its a 2 foot piece, where the inside pipe is connected at both distal ends. In the middle, one of the inside pipes slides snugle inside the other, and the same thing with the other. It has the normal twist locks to attach it at both ends. When you get it set up you put three sheet metal screws where the seams meet. I had to go up with my stove once I put it on the hearth, so the pipe slid more together hiding the initial holes where it was screwed together.

not at all. I was at a loss trying to jam and get the hearthpad done as I couldnt figure out how the deal would work, until I was told it was a slipjoint. I couldnt immagine it myself, but after seeing it it is rather slick.
