Feeling the Heat

Had not seen one of these before. Kind of “steam punk” looking. Supposedly has been in the same home for decades.

I have one of its "twins" sitting in the basement in storage. They put out a very surprising amount of heat, much more than the 602 which it shares many components. They were not sold for long in the US as they had an undeserved reputation for generating creosote. If used properly with dry wood and folks avoided trying to get overnight burns but loading them up and cranking the air darn close to shut, they didn't need to produce creosote. Krista Associates the Jotul importer reportedly just decided that they didn't want the complaints and stopped importing them 35 or so years ago. Some of them were enameled. They usually sell in the $1,200 range cleaned up.

Yeah I’ve seen a few of those, pretty cool looking. Similar to the Morso 2b Classic. I bet it throws a good amount of radiant heat.

This one is for sale in Maine for $1100 and it says it’s been in the home for 40 years. Too funny that @peakbagger you have one in your basement.

If its been in use for 40 years its going to need new internal plates. Mine was only used about 5 months by the person I got it from,

I also have a Jotul 404 cookstove on display, another rare Jotul in the US.
