Don good link but actually most all the suggestions have been discussed here. To expand that article there is another product used to insulate duct work Foil faced bubble wrap. It cost more ( No ichy fiberglass to deal with) R4.2 . One can increase that r value to R6.0 by cutting strips out of the foil and wrap the ducts first (spacing them about a foot apart) that creates a dead air space and elevates the system R value to 6.0. ThaT SAME WRAP CAN BE USED ON DRYER EXHAUST AND BATH FANS. ( sorry hit cap key) which reduces heat loss or insulate cold air exposure. Tremendous heat loss occures with attic pull down stairs.. could bubble wrap the inside and save this huge heat loss. or cut some fiber glass insulation and pull it over the opening before you close the door

I realize alot has been discussed here. I thought it would be a good link to kind of sum up some of our discussions.

Plus it talks about the tax incentives. Some of that I did not know about
