So I have read through most of the garage stove threads on here and it seems that installing a wood stove in a garage in the US can be problematic for safety, code, insurance coverage and (more importantly) insurance claims- Just ask @bholler . The "workaround" I have read is to create a closet of sorts for the wood stove in the garage so it is protected with a firewall from the potentially flammable fumes in the garage. The heat then radiates out from this room and heats the garage. But that's no fun.
I was already thinking about putting a 3-seasons on the other side of my garage, what if I put the stove in the 3-seasons and used a heat exchanger of some sort to heat the garage side without passing any combustibles between the two walls? I wouldn't be doing radiant heat as the slab in the garage is already there, but could I plumb the water jackets through the wall to a radiator+fan on the garage side to heat it? Do any off the shelf units have a heat exchanger built in? Looking for something with a glass front door for a little caveman TV. I saw this video and it got me thinking:
