Hi all,
I have been viewing these threads for a few years and I really appreciate all the info I have been able to find. Thank You.

I recently installed a Englander 25-pdv and used the recommended duravent kit with additional 45 piece for corner install. That was the only way to achieve the required window clearances. I used high temp sealent on the seams and everything is level and I thought tight until I fired it for the first time (for me, it is a used stove) and i could smell fumes, not smoke fumes, but chemical like paint from a new wood stove. There is light smoke coming from pipe somewhere.

Should I run it and watch it or reinstall?
So the set up is back of stove - adapter - 45 - 12" - t - 5' vert - cap

Other than that, everything is working great.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks bugman! My woodstove reeked in the initial burn also so hopefully that is it.

Run it on high to burn off anything for a while. If it continues recheck connections

Burn it hot and long to cure any fumes.

Also do the flashlight test to see if you have any venting leaks. Dark room.... Flashlight across seams( pipe seams and joints)...search for leaks.
The Appliance adapter-Stove and the clean out cap are common leak areas.

Good luck,

Run it hot 9-9 for a few hours, it will burn off any oils. As the pipe gets hot it will seal it's self due to expansion.

Thanks all, the smell is gone and passed the flashlight test.
