We had a Hearthstone Green Mountain 40 installed in our basement. So far, so good.

We've passed the framing and insulation inspection and are about to drywall. But I read somewhere that in a room with a wood stove installed, we should be using 5/8" gypsum on the walls and ceiling. Stepping to 5/8" will obviously provide a better fire rating and other benefits - but is 5/8" required by code? thanks for your insights on this.

Absolutely not by national code. But you will have to check with local codes
