Is this Maple?

I think it’s a maple. Black or sugar. What say you?

This came down due to the base being rotten. Trying to decide if it’s worth the work.

From that angle it looks like sugar maple.
 
Looks like it. You’ll know once u cut a round. Very distinct marking inside
