ISO: Seasoned Wood or Composite Log Supplier On Long Island

I know the drill with trying to buy truly seasoned firewood, but I thought I'd see if anyone out there has a local supplier for me. The guy I've used in past is out of dry wood (apologies to anyone who I gave this source out to as he appears to have run out a while ago).

I took a chance on a local supplier, and got screwed in every way possible (wet wood, cedar, short count, long pieces) ... he did a very nice job covering the crap in the bottom of his truck, so when I checked a few pieces, it looked choice, had him dump it and went inside. I'll be able to stack/cut most of it for next season, but I was able to burn very little of it right now.

If anyone has a reputable guy they've bought from, or a local place to buy/order composite bricks/logs that don't cost a fortune, I appreciate the info. (SAVE ME FROM BURNING OIL!)

Thanx for the suggestion, and kiln dried wouId certainly be dry enough to burn ... However, a cord of kiln dried wood from them would be over 600 plus delivery.

Assuming I need the equivalent of 2 cords more to get me through ... which is the right way to go here?

1. 2 Ton of Envi-Bricks
   
2. 1 Ton Envi-Bricks mixed with cord of firewood between 30-20% MC

There's obvious $$$ savings with mixing wood in, but still exposed to the creosote problem, although its not that much wet wood, and not VERY wet.

I'm on LI too and just bought (one month ago) a cord from a guy in ridge, it burns well but I had to saw a quarter of it to length.

I don't remember his name but I wouldn't recommend anyway as I'm 25-30% on fresh split. However I really don't think there is any cheap dry wood around at this time.

I've tried Envi twice I'm unimpressed. They were better mixed in w/ cord wood, I didn't like them alone at all. If I remember right they suggest using kindling to start since they are difficult if not impossible to get going by themselves.

I bought from this kid and his father who said they chop wood on the side, in Centereach. He won't answer texts/calls ... at the very least, I thought they'd make up the shortage. Lesson learned.

unless i hear something bad by tomorrow im gonna try it, im out of wood almost .

I grabbed a ton of Envi Blocks (larger size) to mix with the dry wood I have left. So far, burn times are good, but its not that cold. Right now, running two blocks with two medium splits (all NS) ... 6-8 hours burn time with good coals after. Any tips out there on mixing envi-block with wood?

Not really. You've probably already seen how they expand. Just try to place them so they don't move much or fall. Once they are burning for a while they break easily. So if they fall or if you have to try to move them they fall apart, once that happens they burn up fast.

I did notice they break after a while. Going to try a few different configurations so when they do break, the wood on top drops down, and things still stay tight. Perhaps a small/medium split NS on either side of the bricks, and one running EW behind the bricks.
