I've lost my Fiskars X25........

....to my 14 year old son.

He came out and gave me a hand splitting. I put a split on the floor next to where he was splitting just in case the axe followed through. He spent a while out there and filled a couple of wheel barrows. I tried to give him some easier hardwood's to build up his confidence and his accuracy.

I think he is at the right height and strength to try with the X25. He's making good progress, he's enjoying it and i enjoy having him outside with me. Win win win.

Had to go to work today but it looks like he's still at it.

I know what you mean - i got some last night (glasses) i will have to try and find some steel toe cap boots for him also. I was just so pleased to get him off the xbox and ipad

That's awesome, Auzzie! One of my little guys loves to split wood with me. It helps with his ADHD tremendously. He really concentrates on whacking the wedge with the small sledge hammer I got him, and he's getting really good at it too. Precious moments, my friend. Precious moments.

Nice one - lol - got my wife to snap him off the deck and send it to work.

I have set up a tyre on a round for him last night. I find it much safer and easier - see how he goes with that. I tried to show him how to stack it after splitting - not a 'nice' pile though as a lot of them were from uglies i had left from splitting with the hydraulics. Will take some photo's on the weekend.

I know what you mean - i told him that this is much better workout for him as you actually get a sense of achievement when the wood splits with a resounding crack. You can actually see it in his face how much he enjoys it. We are half way through our summer holidays and it helps to get them outside.

Yup. I'm a full grown midget at 5'7" and I even felt the danger. The X27 will be in my future. What makes me scratch my head is that these axes are designed and built in Finland. Those people are like giants to me! I can't imagine them using the X25 for anything less than a large hatchet!

I was going to post Bigg_Redd's recent review of the x27 (comparison to his x25), but it seems to have vaporized. Can anyone find it? It was maybe 10 days ago.

Yep i all ready have the X27 - thats what i use. The X25 was sat in my truck for those big rounds which i couldn't get in the back - Murphy Law I needed it yesterday picking up a truck load of rounds each one was over 220 lbs. Geez i felt it the next day

Don't worry go buy yourself an x27 so you don't have to bend when u split. For only 2"s the x25 feels way shorter .
