Hi all,

Not sure what I did wrong but my first post failed to make it, so I'll try again with a short post.

I have an older Model 8 with the catalyst that just developed a smoking problem. I took it apart last year to clean it and install new seals. It worked fine, as far as I could tell through the wood burning season. A few days back I fired it up and notice a small, steady stream of smoke coming out from under the back side of the top lid. The smell was horrible (rubber like). Do I have a seal problem or some other issue going on here?

I could not find any decent exploded views for this model and, like a dummy, I did not take any pictures when I disassembled the stove. The only problem I had when putting it back together was the placement of the insulating bat in the chamber where the catalyst (honeycomb) fits. Also, would it hurt to just remove that catalyst completely?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Dana
