Hello, I just bought a 3 year old Englander PDV 25 for $550. I read reviews and see that they are mixed. So my question to you all is this, Did I do well ? Will it service my 1200 sq.ft. nome? Will it break on me?
What grease did you use on the bushings/bearings. Are the augars easy to remove?. I was a heavy equipment mechanic for many years so this should be easy for me to fix. How often do you treat the augars? Thanks, Lance.Hello
I worked on many of these stoves. It is an old design but very rugged and puts out a lot of Heat! The parts are easy to get and we recommend you have some spares. Good luck
P.S.
I recommend you pimp your augers! See my pics!

Thanks, I was hoping you would say that. I plan on doing a good cleaning and lube on Sunday after I get it home.Hi Lance
The high temp red grease, and yes the augers are easy to remove just 4 bolts after you loosen the set bolt and remove the auger motor. I spray the augers with "Dry Moly" and grease once every 3-4 years.

Good luck
The fan setting will not go below the heat setting to prevent overfiring the stove. Did you get an Error code when it shut down like E1 or E2?Just picked up the stove and got it home. I vacuumed it all out for now, will do a better cleaning when the humidity breaks here. I do have one question though. Should I hook up an O.A.K.? I did run it for about an hour and found it to be much much quieter then my Enviro EF 2. Lots of heat output. I went to turn it down from the setting of 9 to but it stopped at 3 and then shut down. Any ideas why?
HelloI will let it cool down then try it again. Maybe I did something like hit the off button, but I didnt see a S D in the display.
The Top auger limits the pellets that go into the bottom auger to help prevent jams. The bottom auger feeds the burnpot. What does the second auger feed or un feed?
You can get one or two 3" diam 12" long adjustable vent pipes to make up the difference.Don, do you know if any company makes a 3" vent pipe with a 1" offset? My old stove differs by that much with the through wall thimble. I just had siding put on and can not lower it to meet the new stove.
+1 on pimping your augers. my englander jammed constantly when i first got it. I took the augers out, ground down all the burrs and seams from manufacturing and made it nice and smooth. I didnt use any dry moly simply because i didnt know it existed back then. Since i did that i havent had a single jam in many many years. I dont use the best pellets and dont sift fines or look for foreign objects or anything - however i find the occasional strange object in the burn potHello

Don, I would like to do this to my PDV25 too. Is it relatively easy to do (I'm not real mechanically inclined...lol)? What brand dry moly did you use (is there a difference between brands)? You say to clean the shaft as well but obviously you can't clean very far as your hands won't go in too far (unless you've got really tiny hands)...how much of the shaft should you clean? Should you clean the front of the lower auger shaft where it empties into the burn pot as well?
