Just getting started

I had an hour to spare this morning so at least I got started. This is how it looks after the splitting was done:






Here is the first row getting started. Notice that I don't have to move the wood much to where it gets stackes. I did almost finish this stack before I had to stop so I'll have to post pictures later. Much later.



EDIT: Too many pictures came out but in edit I can't tell which is which so they will have to stay. Two of the pictures are in there twice. Sorry about that.

For sure there is a lot of ash in that stack. You will also find some elm, cherry, soft maple and pin oak. The ash though it probably 75% of the stack.

Here is the first row getting started. Notice that I don't have to move the wood much to where it gets stackes.

I wish I had that luxury; Don't have as much open space here. I have room for a few rows close to the splitter, but that's it. The rest is moved with the quad trailer to where it will be stacked.
You can even move your processing area around. Mine is now bare ground with about 6" of bark covering it.
Looks like you are kickin' butt there, Dennis...good work!

Looks like good weather to get started stacking.
Looks like you're gathering poles to stack it on. What type of wood do you use for the poles.
Why don't you like using pallets?

Dave, I usually cut maple for the poles. I think there might be a cherry or two in there too. I just do not like the looks of pallets stacked up after the wood is gone. Also, I've known more than one person who has got hurt while getting wood when the pallets broke. But to me they, or most of them really make an eyesore. Pallet Pete gets some that are better and he gave some to me; even delivered them. I plan on putting some in the barn (dirt floor) and nailing or screwing osb to them.
