I get it...pellet prices and crude oil prices have nothing to do with each other. That said, as much as I love my P68, it simply doesn't make much sense (at least to me) to load the garage up with 6 ton of pellets, when I can get propane for $1.55 per gallon. I don't really know what the math formula is to compute at what price point, burning pellets is a losing proposition. I just suspect that with prices where they are right now, propane is probably quite a bit cheaper, and is FAR less work! Again, I love my P68, but make no mistake, there is work involved, schlepping the bags from the garage to the stove and cleaning it. I planned on heading out this weekend to order my supply for the Winter, but when I called for a propane fill, the price (and yes, I know that it can, and will change) was low enough that it made my decision for me. My P68 is in my family room, so I'll definitely miss the ambiance, and may fire it up every now and again, but I think I'll be sitting this season out, and saving my back!
