I cannot believe how much I've leaned about wood burning reading here. Thanks for all the great information!!

Now to my questions...
Anyone ever hear of a hydro-heater?? Manufactured in 1980 by a company in PA. I have one. It's hooked up to the furnace, has a circulator and pushes heated water to my radiators.
I want to disconnect it and use it as a regular wood burning stove. Can I do this? I don't need it for heat.. just to have some extra warmth (it's in the basement).
Please let me know what you all think.. I've really come to value your opinions!!

I'll answer only if you can send me pic's or description of it so I know if you can get rid of that godawful thing so I can see if it will hook up somehow to the wood furnace I am bringing home saturday..yes..I know that didnt make sense but

my neighbor told me of something that sounds similar called a "boiler buddy" or something

The furnace I am buying had a copper coil run over the top of the heat exchanger..the owner was trying to get some hot water while he heated..it was crude and innefective I imagine...(one small loop of copper)..my neighbor told me they make an attachment for furnaces and the like..it was called..(I think)..a boiler buddy..it had a coil or series of coils which fit over the exchanger and kept circulating to a holding tank..it would stop circulating at the desired temp..in a sense, free hot water..

i was lusting at the thought of your throw away apparatus..but have no idea if it is anything like what he had said

I find that re-sizing to about 300 x 500 pixels works well.
